Dear friends,

We want to share with you a personal story about the orphans in war-torn Ukraine. As you may know, during the year of war in Ukraine, we studied information about orphans in war zones. This helped us to quickly recognize their needs for food, medicines, close relocation, and arranging basements for their facilities. We worked hard to build a new appropriate environment, hire and keep teachers and nurses for them, and arrange emergency medical help for some.

Our goal was to prevent these children from being kidnapped and avoid the situation where Ukrainian children disappear in foreign countries, especially a country-aggressor. Unfortunately, estimates suggest that between 13,000 to 307,000 Ukrainian children have been deported to Russia without any indication of when they could return home. The Ukrainian Office of the Prosecutor General also reported that nearly 800 children have died or disappeared in the process of deportation.

As you can imagine, the situation in Ukraine is dire, and these children are some of the most vulnerable. But we have hope. The Security Service of Ukraine has started the process of investigating this crime and the possible returning of these kids to Ukraine.

We want to take a moment to express our gratitude to all our donors, doctors, teachers, and nurses who have worked tirelessly with these orphans. We also want to thank the amazing families who agreed to take orphans home, despite their own difficult situation of living in the war. It takes a special kind of person to step up and care for a child in need, and we are grateful for each and every one of them.

We have a great hope that missing kids will come back home, but until then, we will continue to do everything in our power to arrange the best possible living conditions for them. Whether they are in another facility, with a new temporary family, in the hospital, or even in the basement, we want to make sure they are safe and well taken care of.

We hope this personal story has touched your heart and inspired you to help in any way you can. Remember, your care is the only thing that protects children from this war. Together, we can make a difference and bring hope to these children who have already endured so much.

Thank you for taking the time to read this message.

Begin 2023 With Gratitude – Christmas Drawings From Some of Our Orphans https://abundanceinternational.org/2023/01/06/happy-new-year/ Fri, 06 Jan 2023 05:24:43 +0000 https://abundanceinternational.org/?p=1636

We wanted to start 2023 with thankfulness for the army of donors who make all this possible.

Their Christmas will come on January 7th. They took time to congratulate you on your Christmas and to say thank you for your care and to wish you peace in your life.

As you know about us, we continually share the photos of our work. We hope you will more and more feel like you are there and part of what we’re doing in Ukraine.

Together, we brought aid to more than 2,350 orphans in 22 orphanages across Ukraine in 2022.

Do you realize that for the first time, the lives of the children we are caring for may even be a bit better than the average child in Ukraine.

We are grateful to God for you. Despite the war, the orphans in our care:

  • Continued to receive proper nutrition
  • Continued to receive critical medicines
  • Kept facilities clean and sanitized
  • Underground rooms allowed for play, sleep, and care
  • Kept as warm as possible
  • Kept electricity on more than most
  • Felt our care with many special projects
  • Adapted with the growing number of children
  • And, most important, none of our children are missing

We can’t stop the war. We were not able to help everyone, but we, together with you, did our best to help our orphans do more than survive.

    Happy New Year

From All of Us at Abundance International

      Special Needs Children in Ukraine’s Orphanages https://abundanceinternational.org/2022/10/13/special-needs-children-in-ukraines-orphanages/ Thu, 13 Oct 2022 08:50:58 +0000 https://abundanceinternational.org/?p=1127

Children in the typical orphanages are divided into those with disabilities and those without. The ration is generally 80/20.

Some types of orphanages have only children with certain types of disabilities, such as vision or hearing loss.

Another type is like rehabilitation for special needs children with the intention of sending them to normal orphanages as soon as possible. For example, those who have problems with their central nervous system. Sometimes, certain physical therapy or massage therapies can help them return to normal life.

In our database we have all three types of such facilities. We understand that these types of children require special support such as medical treatments, special medicines, surgeries in some cases, and special requirements for their care. Since the war started, this style of work became the most difficult to maintain; to arrange physically and pay for financially. Some of these children had surgeries scheduled from before the war, such as one we helped with a kidney transplant, some children needed to continue getting medical treatment as they had before the war, and of course it is more difficult to get the same medicines and deliver them.

Most of such children are not able to be put in safe places, so this or another way they had to stay in dangerous areas because they can’t be moved.

Finally, we had to somehow encourage the people who were caring for them to stay there and continue helping these children to survive.

All of those aims we were able to reach because of the donors of Abundance International. We are so glad to know that these children were not abandoned. They, maybe even more than others, need love and care because all of their days are spent in bed. They can’t stand up. Each meal is a project.

Each day the schedule for taking pills and prescriptions, and physical therapy is essential to their survival. It’s a hard work. We are inspired by the patience of nurses because these children’s lives are 100% dependent on them.

We are so happy to report that because of you some children got surgeries and certain treatments that promises them hope for their future. The rest of the kids who come, who don’t have that chance, just need to continue to receive our care and love. Because we are the only people they have in this world.

      Gratefully,

All of Us at Abundance International
